Ek neermohi

To understand this bhajan/song you have to first understand this scenario:

It is about a girl who is new in Vrindavan and has very vague knowledge about krishna. But with all the encounters that she has so far with krishna ,she definitely knows that he had left her wandering in the forest of his mesmerising beauty and love. She was in love with him, And there she was conversing about her little love story with her brother. She sings the tale of how she meets Krishna, , how she finally realises who He is and how he becomes hers :) :)

female: Ek Neermohi mera dil legaya,
jaate jaate mujhe ganhe sukh de gaya.

male: Kaun Neermohi tera dil legaya?
Sanwala roop jiska tujhe bhaa-gaya

female : Yamuna ke tat par mila sanwariya,
Nanda pita uske, Yashoda maiya...yashoda maiya
Dhenu charake ,bansi bajake, mann ke suro ko chori kargaya!
Ek neermohi mera dil . . .

Gopiyo dekhe jiska darpan
Raas rache woh harr upvann vann...harr upvann vann
Raas rachane aaya rasiya, radha samaj ke mujhe legaya!
Ek Neermohi . . .

Soch mein behthi thi mein vyaakul
Tub aaya ghar milne woh baabul...milne woh baabul
Haath manga bandhan jodha, janmo ke liye woh mera hogaya!!!
Ek Neermohi . . .

male: Kaun Neermohi tera dil legaya?
Sanwala roop jiska tujhe bhaa-gaya

female: Kaun Neermohi mein jaan gayi,
Usko jaana toh sab, bhool gayi..............

Thanks Tanvee! I do understand Hindi though. But it would be nice if you could put up a translation anyway... for those who are not familiar with the language :)

one mesmerising man has taken my heart away,
By doing so, he has given me abundant bliss.

who, mesmerising guy has taken your heart away?
whose dusky complexion has touchingly impressed you?

I first met him on the banks of Yamuna,
He is the child of Nanda and Yashoda,
By playing his flute, and herding the cows,
He has stolen the strings and cords of my little heart!
    One mesmerising man . . .

Whose reflections the gopis forever fantasize,
That charmer plays raas, forest through forest,
One day he came to engross us all in his raas-leela,
and mistaking me for radha...sneaked away with me!
    One mesmerising man. . .

Once as I sat wandering alone in my thoughts,
He had then come home to meet our father,
He asked for my hand in marriage,
And so, became mine for a thousand lives!!!
    One mesmerising man . . .

Who , mesmerising man has taken your heart away?
And whose dusky comlexion has touchingly impressed you?

NOW I know who that mesmerising allurer is,
    And after having known him,
I have forgotten about every other thing.............

  7. Perhaps the word NEERMOHI should be NIRMOHI, which means, that He himself gets attached to none, and nothing also, while everyone and everything loves HIM. Verily, Lord Krishna as the avathara of the Ultimate, is far above and far away from likes and dislikes that are usually attributed to we, humans.

Well, thank you for all the prashansaa.Very Much Appreciated...

  10. genius sury! wow...wonderful interpretation of the word. I had a vague idea of what it meant, but you have churned out the profoundness of the word. Thanks!

  11. @Sury sir:
tnx 4 ur interpretation! it helped me grab the meaning..
But, even this nirmohi said in the BG that He is partial to His devotees, did He not?
While He is Nirmohi, He is also bhaktavatsala!
    That's His greatness!
