Dashavatar bhajan

The ten avatars of Shri Vishnu, of which on number eighth is our beloved Krishna are all very important aspects of Hindu mythology. They all may have taken birth for various other reasons; but primarily, it was to save the world. For the preservation of good and destruction of evil. For the devotion of devotees and the end to the villains. Well, as a noteworthy point, it is said in the upanishads and the bhagavatam that : There are as many avatars of the Adi purush (Vishnu) as they are waves in an ocean (JUST IMAGINE!)
However , the common bhakt is only acqainted to the main ten of them. We all know that the nine have come and we await the last one , called Kalki, who will come at the end of Kaliyug and hence establish the golden age (satya-yug) once again.

(I might write an entire new post on Kalki alone...i need to research further-Stay tuned!)

So here goes my small and simple bhajan in the praise of all the mahavatars. The lyrics are such that they tell Lord Narayan that if He is to be with me in all different births of mine then I can go through all the suffering with whatever avatar he takes...just to be with HIM.

  1. @tanvee: thanks for the post :)
btw, we hav a diff take on Dasavathar: we dont count Buddha in, but we count in "Balarama" ahead of Krishna.
Even the Srimad Bhagavatam endorses that view.
//Krishna Avatar Banki ana, gita tumse sun lu//
    :))
And, the pic is awesome :))
Beautiful song, and you are absolutely right when you say He will always be there for us. :)
It is only to protect the bhakt that He has taken so many avatars. :))
No matter what happens, His devotees need not fear at all, as they have His loving eyes over them :)

  3. @ILWK: Yeah there is some sort of alternation there. Well this info was purely given on the little knowledge I have of the story- I m sure there is definitely more to the legends...
    Thanks for info!

@LUEN: Well the on Kalki post might take some time (I m busier these days) ,but I shall surely post.

I guess, if the avatar has to play a Human then it is probably bound to go through suffering although it might not affect the Supreme Himself but It will only Teach us mankind about the rules of conduct and dharma etc.
How sweet can God be? For His devotees, He can cry and bear the pain ....

On a second note, Kalki is known already for being fierce so I believe, instead of suffering too much himself,, he will make sure the wrongdoers (evil men) suffer! All the same , I m not sure....just guessing :)
I could keep talking and talking! lemme go now. Thanks for the appreciation to the post!

  5. @All: Happy Krishna Jayanthi! We celebrate it tomorrow. :)
btw, even Narasimmha was (is) fierce.
But have u heard of Sthanu Narasimmha?
He looked at Prahlad with loving eyes even as He filled His father with terror.
LUEN, you have obviously been to psp temple...u have seen Azhagiya Singar or the beautiful lion...His hands invite the devotees closer!
So, even if Kalki is fierce, He will come only to protect His devotees.
There really is no fear anywhere for someone surrendered unto His lotus feet
